GITA Australia & New Zealand Excellence Award

As the world's leading association in the geospatial technology field, GITA is constantly working to raise the profile of spatial technology in all industries and to recognise the efforts of the organisations and people who transform ideas into a working reality. A hallmark of GITA has long been the stewardship and leadership afforded by its members who have unselfishly shared their experiences, actively filled the mentor role, pushed the technology and increased the business and community benefits. GITA Australia & New Zealand Division introduced the Excellence Award Program in 1992 and GITA North America introduced the Excellence Award Program in 1993. The GITA Awards Program relies on experts in the field who inform the association of outstanding achievements by organisations using geospatial technologies. Any end user of geospatial technology, small or large, government or private sector, is encouraged to nominate. Recognition extends internationally for both companies and individuals.

GITA ANZ - Dial Before You Dig High Performance Award

Since 2000, GITA ANZ has been active in promoting efforts to improve the processes and standards for protecting and locating underground assets. These efforts have been closely aligned to the national Dial Before You Dig service and parallel initiatives in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE). In 2007, GITA ANZ introduced a new award to recognise high performance by member companies in responding to Dial Before You DIg enquiries. The award is made on the basis of results from a competition conducted anonymously by GITA that compares member companies responses to a set of enquiries. These responses are judged on the basis of speed of response, quality of response, availability, accuracy and quality of material provided to the enquirer. A perpetual trophy, donated by Dial Before You Dig, is awarded each year. In 2010, the award was shared by Water Corporation (WA) and Telstra.
